3 strategies for driving your behaviour in the best direction Build your behaviour, and live your life, on strong foundational roots. What is a  Core Value We all have foundational beliefs. These are broad concepts which are important to us. These have built up from childhood. Many formed from our family and culture and so on. Our core values are the ones of top priority to us. The ones nearest to our heart are the ones that mean the most to us. How do we know what our top core values are The first thing is to create awareness. Awareness that we have core values and that they are important to us and that it's advantageous to know them. Three strategies to discover our core values: 1. Life Mentoring has developed an app to make it easy to rank your top values. Which values bring about a good calm internal state/feeling for you. Which resonate with you as being important.  Life Mentoring App 2. Look at what and, maybe more importantly, who inf...

Why we believe our thoughts

Why we believe our thoughts Whats holding you up in life? I mean really - whats really holding you back? How and when we learn We all put energy into our lives. In fact it seems people are putting in more and more effort. The shame of it is that they aren't getting the benefits they want. We are born with potential and we all use it as much as we can. Sometimes I think the mind is too clever. Its like a computer with all its algorithms but we are human and don't know how to programme it. It gets programmed from birth and some programmes are faulty or not for the long term . We don't update it. This was never something naturally built into us. What is a belief? A certainty about what something means.  It is information about our actions and the actions of others. Conscious or subconscious. If you see a behaviour you translate that into what that behaviour means. For example if someone smiles at someone you might immediately think th...

Staying on Top

3 strategies to staying on top Is your life feeling like a game of Jenga Why do you we need to feel we are staying on top When we feel we are on top of things, we feel in control. When we feel in control we can move forward. One of the most important things is to move forward - keep moving, one step at a time if necessary. Its signals to ourselves that we are alive. We cannot stay stagnant, so if we aren't moving forward then we are moving backwards. Nothing actually stays stagnant and is still alive. Even stagnant water - it grows parasites and bacteria. So given that we are moving all the time, make sure you are in control of where and how. Make sure that is backed up by your 'why'. How to stay on top There are always times of overwhelm, so we use techniques to pull ourselves out of them. Sometimes it creeps up on us. Sometimes we can't find the way out. In my blogs I have covered tools and strategies to pull you out. Within a week y...

Planning and Prioritising

Image
Planning and Prioritising Are you fed up with procrastinating. You aren't getting things done and you easily get distracted. Are you now at the point of frustration that is leading to overwhelm......... When you have lost focus and you find you are working harder and harder - what are you getting back ? Maybe you've read the self care - "You First"-  blog and the "Rewards" blog (- all about rewarding yourself) and you aren't quite there - you still aren't feeling on top of things and life isn't free flowing on the road to happiness. If this resonates with you, then today I am going to assist you with starting to plan/organise and prioritise. All with the aim to begin to get on top of the overwhelm and frustration. Why do we need to plan As humans we tend to respond well to some routine. This helps it to become natural and second nature. ie without thinking about it. If we have a routine we can then be flexible and adjus...

Rewards and You!

Rewards and You! What is a reward   Generally there is a purpose behind every behaviour. We do things for a reason. Very often we do not know the real reason behind a behaviour. Sometimes even , it has just become habit so the reason has disappeared. However if we look deep enough we can find it. I have discovered through my life mentoring that the reward, or lack of, can be causing us problems. It leaves us carrying out a lot of behaviours and being disappointed.  We don't know we are disappointed though. in fact we may not realise we are - we just start to feel like a hamster on a wheel, feeling frustrated with life and heading towards burnout. . We just did what we did and wonder why it doesn't fulfill us. This article is to help you uncover the reasons. Why would this be important? because you may be able to eliminate some behaviours that aren't fulfilling their purpose and maybe provide direction for some others. The net result is that we...
